What's it all About?
I guess my love and passion for writing all started back in 7th grade when I started up my own underground home-made class newspaper. My classmates looked forward to each new edition until my teacher, Mr. Oulahen, one day discovered it and called in my parents. I was scolded and punished for wasting my time with non-curriculum activity. Instead of appreciating the creativity involved and encouraging it, Mr. Oulahen instead was completely clueless.
By the time I got to high school I quickly encountered English teachers who did appreciate it and encouraged me to write more. In post secondary while studying computers, programming & analysis, in one of my elective courses my psychology professor, Mr. Carl James, took me aside after reading one of my essays and tried to convince me to change my focus to something within the literary world.
I've always had a passion for anything creative: music, writing, documentary film, and over the years I've come to the realization that I need to have at least one of these in my life at all times. It's very difficult to make a living doing any of these and I have utmost respect for anyone how has, but I've been very fortunate because even though my career has been centered around technology - communication and creativity have always played a major role in that and I've been presented with many opportunities to write, whether that be an article, technical manual, proposal, or marketing materials.
This website is simply a blog and collection of some of the writing work I've created over the years. I've always wanted to have a searchable repository of my writing, so finally, here is an initial version although far from complete as I'm currently in the process of uploading and consolidating previously published work.
So that's what this is all about. Not just technology and communications, but life. You only live once and you have to make the most of each day. When you spend some time in a coma as I did back in August of 2010, you come out not only realizing this but living it every day. This is one of the topics I want to start writing more about, just to remind myself every day how lucky I am to be alive.
